"The Space Museum: A Model for Assembly" is an exhibition-constructor that showcases the most interesting items that have been collected by the museum over the past 6 years. It tells the story of the formation of a diverse and specific museum collection, which, like a text, can be read by each exhibition visitor in their own way.
Curators and artists presented the image of the museum collection as a matrix with filled and unfilled cells. The content of the matrix includes not only objects, but also stories. And the exhibition itself is an invitation to reflection. Visitors can follow the suggested route or "read" in their own order, look into the cells of the matrix, examine large objects, sit at a table and flip through Soviet albums with cutouts on the space theme, see an installation dedicated to museum storage and mark their personal route on an interactive map of the exhibition.
The exhibition consists of 450 items out of almost 12,000 received by the museum from 2017 to 2023: authentic samples of space technology, one-of-a-kind models, special-purpose space tools, unique documents and photos on the history of cosmonautics, memorial items related not only to the professional activities of people who have contributed to the history of cosmonautics, but also to their personal life, hobbies, works of art and applied creativity, reflecting the popularity of the space theme in different years.
